I first reviewed Tina Malia’s music in 2002 when I received “Shores of Avalon” and I was pretty much floored. I still listen to that record on a regular basis. It’s just so lovely and relaxing.
I am happy to say that this release is equally wonderful. I’ve only heard it a handful of times and I already love it, but I’m sure it will grow on me even more with time. Just as the previous one did.
This record is maybe a little more radio friendly (for lack of a better term). The songs here are more distinct from each other and she has shown more versatility in style. Though it’s still very ambient and soothing throughout.
Malia has a beautiful voice and such a skill for melding it with her gorgeous melodies. I just can’t say enough about her skills as a songwriter, performer and singer.
There are a plethora of instruments on this record and Tina Malia plays at least 5 of them herself. There are flutes, cellos, bells, shakers, several drums and even a rainstick (and some I’ve never heard of). This is one beautifully created masterpiece.
If you were wooed by “Shores of Avalon” you will not be disappointed. If you are new to Tina Malia’s records you will be smitten (and you will want to own them all).
