I reviewed Anna Dagmar’s previous record, Solo Songs (see link at left)

I liked this new record upon first listen, but with each subsequent spin I like it even more.

There’s something both simplistic and intricate about these songs. On the one hand, they have an almost musical theater feel with their very “colorful” melodies but at the same time they’re very interesting and the tune goes places you don’t expect. I love that.

In reading my previous review I see that at that time I felt her voice was too soft and I wanted her to sing with more, shall we say, aplomb. Well, I’m glad to report she has done this. She’s still not super gutsy, but the music does not call for that. I think she’s struck a very nice balance.

This is a great little record, I just wish it were longer.
