Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I’ve exchanged some emails with Halie Loren for a few months now regarding her being our artist of the month for August 2006 and what a lovely lady she is. I am so happy to report that I enjoy her music as much as I enjoy her as a person.

I’m going to give her a compliment that I don’t give very often because it means a great deal to me…but vocally she reminds me a lot of…(drum roll) Sarah McLachlan. Yes, I said it. I don’t compare many to The Great One but Loren deserves it. It’s quite noticeable on “Sand”.

“Almost Even” reminds me of Rachael Sage a little as well. But Halie Loren is an original. You can certainly see her influences, but she takes them and puts her own spin on them making her music a real stand out in the mire that is today’s music.

These songs are beautiful. They’re lush, layered and intricate. Everything I love about music. Her vocals are delightful and seem much more mature than her years.

The songs are written with a lot of intricate layers and interesting pieces. They often go where you don’t expect which, to me, is a pretty good indicator of a talented songwriter. The piano composition and performance is divine.

As I said, her voice is beautiful. She puts so much emotion into her words and melodies you really feel it along with her.

This is a class act. Halie Loren definitely has a future in this business. I, for one, can’t wait to see what she does next.
