Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

This is great genuine pop music. I feel like I always have to qualify it when I call something pop. I don’t mean Britney/Chrisina/Jessica pop. I mean intelligent songwriting, uplifting melodies, strong lyrics, and pleasing vocals. That kind of pop. The only kind we need in my not so very humble opinion.

Anyway, Arden Kaywin does that. There are many current pop musicians that are similar to Kaywin’s style. I kept thinking, ‘oh this song reminds me of…’ but can’t seem to place all of them. The song, “On the Edge” sounds so much like a Leona Naess song I thought it was a cover until it took a different turn. [I think the Naess song is “Calling” but that’s just from memory as her website is so poor I can’t tell by looking for it].

She gets compared to Sarah McLachlan, but I don’t really see that other than they are both lovely, talented women who sing and play piano.

These songs are, like I said, intelligently written and fun to listen to. The musicianship and production are first class too. A very nice recoding in all.

I would also compare Arden favorably to Jonatha Brooke (especially in The Story days), as well as Vanessa Carlton (but with a much better voice). So if you like either of those, or really any mature female fronted pop, this is a good choice.

Stand out songs: What If, As Long as You Love Me, Over You (lovely piano here).

Comment: Arden Kaywin is simply amazing. Her lyrics, voice, and piano-playing makes it difficult to stop playing her CD. I have yet become tired of it! I want to see her live someday, I can just imagine how awesome she is live.
