OK this is not for everyone. It’s not what you would call comfortable or pleasing to the ears. It’s quite bizarre in my opinion.
The instrumentation and the vocals do not seem to be on the same musical page. But the resulting sound is fascinating nonetheless. The music and melodies sound Eastern Indian while the vocals sail over the top in an almost chanting fashion. It’s a very dissonant sound. But somehow appealing at the same time.
The night I listened to this CD my husband had decided he wanted to read an H.P. Lovecraft story to me and we both agreed this was great background music for it.
If there were a audio dictionary, the word haunting would point to Spires the in the Sunset Rise. If that sounds appealing to you, or you’re ready to try something unique, check them out.
