Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Opera-trained Jennifer Reff releases a debut album with a combination of operatic tracks and some covers of contemporary songs. She uses a Puccini aria to start with, and it shows off her vocal prowess well.

The Tori Amos song Winter gets a faithful and mostly successful reading. Reff uses a lower register than on the first song and that works well for this song.

The traditional In Hebrid Seas is done delicately, with Reff singing beautifully.

The version of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights works reasonably without replacing the
original in anyone’s heart.

A closing version of Visage’s Fade to Grey is inspired, transforming the synth pop classic
into a slower, more sensitive song.

The contemporary opera genre has one more star to be, that much is clear.
