Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Sasha Lazard’s music is almost as gorgeous as she is. I’m sure she gets tired of reading that, but it’s true. Since her photos are all over the CD, it’s hard not to pay attention to this.

Most of the songs on “The Myth of Red” are classical art songs, Russian folk tunes and opera arias but with a added lyrics (mostly by Lazard) and remixed with a modern flair. Placing them become along the same lines of Mediaeval Baebes Dead Can Dance, and Dilerium (who remixed the last track on this CD).

The “Battle of Erishkigal” is mixed by DJ Spooky and is very cool.

If you like the above-mentioned artists and others similar to them, I think you’ll like Sasha Lazard.
