Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Amy’s Arms is a darkwave duo consisting of Siren and mr.Ratt.

Their debut mini has a strange charm, the title song is very eighties Goth, all rough melody and spare backing.

Siren lives up to her name on the song. “Blood on the rocks” is more synth/industrial with its bleeping noises and imperious vocals. The words speak cheerily of vampires and gargoyles. We get a weird little version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” that lets Siren deliver a plaintive vocal. It sounds like David Lynch would like this one too. “No one will know” is standard indie, a soft but listless song with weird galloping noises. The seven songs are quick but there’s enough here to suggest Amy’s arms are welcoming.
