Although, *technically* this would be the fifth comment with someone mentioning that they’d like a copy of the disc and their favorite track (“Mercy”), since the first posted comment didn’t actually contain those two requisites.

Seriously, my favorite Sarah track is “Mercy,” although you can’t go wrong with any song from “Solace.”

But if it had to be from a different album, I’d say “Good Enough” ranks up there, too.

Of course, I’d love the new disc. My all-time favorite track: Possession (on Fumbling Towards Ecstasy). Curiously, I like the original studio version better than live versions I’ve heard recorded. “Ice Cream”, of course, is my favorite song to hear in live in concert…

I feel like I’ve lost touch (no pun intended) with Sarah’s music since “Surfacing” (although “Solace” ranks up there as a seminal experience in 1992, along with Tori’s “Little Earthquakes”), and I think part of it has to do with the inordinate marketing that her singles received right around the time “I Will Remember You” hit the charts.

Everywhere I turned, there was a new single with a smattering of B-sides that always seemed to include “I Will Not Forget You” … confusing much? *grin*

After a while, it seemed like she had sold out to the money machine.

But then I bought “Mirrorball” and realized that, even if she had something to do with churning out an excessive number of musical widgets with high margins, she’s still a damn good songwriter and the music still holds a lot of worth for me.

So while it’d be nice to hear new material, I’ll probably still get around to buying this (or winning it, if I’m the fifth person to comment and saying that my favorite song is “Mercy”).
