Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
I liked this CD from the first spin. Then it grew on me even more with continued listens.
I am sometimes reminded of Liz Phair. Not the voice (this girl can actually sing!), but the phrasing and the songwriting. This is mostly noticeable to me on Both Sides.
This album is filled with nice pop songs. Sometimes on the dreamy side as on Let Me Breathe but mostly just straight up pop.
There are some nice harmonies here similar to Cocteau Twins.
It’s pretty impressive that this much sound comes out of just three people. The Mary Dream is Elise Bellew and Blake Ryan and their additional musician Steve Brewster. It’s a great sound. Very full and lush. The production is very good here, obviously.
This is a nice CD of beautiful pop songs well performed.
