Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Charmed is a duo consisting of Bambi Jackson and Alicia Ultan. Their brand of folk is indeed charming and their talent is apparent.

“The Lie” is strong and lovely, Ultan’s viola especially great in this setting.

“Innbydelsen” is an instrumental and its expressive enough not to need words. The piano and viola have their won dialogue.

“Drive All night” sees Ultan singing wistfully of doing just that. The songs no rousing Springsteen ode to liberty in flight, but more reflective in its wish to move on. Ultan’s pure folk tones prove strong here.

“Maybe Someday” a song by Jackson is lovely also. Perhaps it’s predictable to compare this duo to the Indigo Girls but here it seems apt.

“The Romanian Spider from Hell” admirably ends this album on a sweet note. The instrumental song has enough charm to convince anyone of the duo’s talents.
