Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Christine Westphal is Eisblume and this is her debut album. Its electronic sound and melancholy mood is very appealing.

“Sorrowed Heart of Sadness” is a dreamy meander over strings, with an irresistible chorus. The backing vocals sound like a choir of angels.

“It Would Be a Happy Day” is more playful and has a trip hoppy style to it. Westphal’s vocal is sweet and accessible.

“Shame on Me” is spooky and haunting, Westphal resembling Shirley Manson vocally.

“Allein” is a delicate song sung in German. The backing sounds like something by Danny Elfman for a Tim Burton movie.

Eisblume’s record is great.
