Artist: Nadine Zahr
Year/Label: 2005 / Independent
Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
Nadine Zahr has a very strong voice. So powerful and strong, yet beautiful. It reminds me a little of Natalie Wattre but with a softer edge.
The music is more pop-rock than blues which is what one might expect from this kind of a voice. But I prefer this to blues so I for one, am glad!
“Less Than 24 Hours” is a lovely rock ballad with piano (among other things). Sounds like one I’ll be singing along to in the car. Her voice just shines here.
She’s one of those artists you listen to and think “oh yeah, she sounds likeā¦.*finger snap” Then you are stuck. She doesn’t sound like anyone else, that’s the thing. She’s very unique but at the same time comfortable. You feel like you know her.
Zahr has a new CD coming out later this year, so stay tuned for a review on that to come. But for now, get this EP to keep you company until “Underneath the Everyday” is released.
