Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

The short-lived british band Delicious Monster had a dynamic singer in Rachel Mayfield and made a delightful album called Joie de Vivre. After they split Mayfield dropped out of sight, but now she’s back.

Her sound is less poppy than in her old band, but the her vocal prowess is intact. The backing music is pretty subdued leaving Mayfield plenty of space to use her girlish, but distinct voice. “Harder Love” has a bouncy upbeat style that is very appealing. Another great track is the plaintive “Let Go”.

The album is a low-budget but full-sounding record that will hopefully bring Mayfield back to the public eye.
