Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I may be a tad biased about these songs since I heard them played in my own living room last month (Nov 2004). But I think we can all agree that this is a fantastic recording.

I can’t really compare to her previous release, Black Notebook, since I don’t own it, but I have heard some tracks from it on her website. I am positively in love with her song “Bellyside” from that release, but these songs are really just as good if not better in some ways.

She opens with “Give into You” which shows her incredible voice. Very nice pop song.

“Make You Sad” couldn’t be more radio friendly.

“Hey New York” and “Perfectly Lovely” show you a little of what it’s like to experience Anne play live. Her onstage chatter and connection she has with the group is evident. You also get a glimpse of her great sense of humor.

My favorite track on this CD is probably “Your Heart” which I tend to play continuously on a loop. It reminds me of that old chestnut, “Hearts” by Marty Balin which remains one of my favorite songs ever.

If you like good strong Indie pop ala Jennifer Marks or Sam Shaber you need to hear Anne Heaton.
