Album Review: Jalouse by Jen h.ka

Album Name: Jalouse
Artist: Jen h.ka
Year/Label: 2005 / Independent

Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

French singer/guitarist Jen h.ka makes thoughtful, complex music. Along with her band she’s made a full-length album and this mini album.

The lengthy “Killer Bee” allows her to use her guitar-playing and singing to the fullest. The song owes something to Radiohead’s dynamic rock.

“Black Taste” is a soft song that puts the emphasis on the singer’s delicate voice.

“Scorpios” is a lovely little song in the vein of Heather Nova.

“Intimacy” ends the album in a strong way. Ka sings of love in an insightful way.

“Jalouse” is a lovely album.
