Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Kacy Crowley is back after a long absence with the follow-up to “Anchorless”. She’s still a powerful singer and a superb lyricist.

“Kind of Perfect” is gentle and showcases Crowley’s voice well. The lyric is a finely tuned observation of a relationship.

“Unrecovered” sounds very radio-friendly. But Crowley’s edge keeps it from being bland. She’s a little like Ani DiFranco vocally. “I’m Cinderella with motorcycle boots” she notes amusingly.

“Suspended” begins with a thrilling chord sequence as Crowley sings “Sky equals nostalgia”. The song isbeautiful and should be made into a single.

“Humble Beginnings” closes the album with a trip-hop sound and a cool vocal by Crowley.

Moodswing” marks a great return for her.
