Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Lisa Lauren is a singer/songwriter/piano player. Her style is mainly jazz, but I’d say that she can also appeal to pop-minded individuals. On this CD as well as her debut CD, “What Comes Around”, she gets some help from saxophonist, David Sanborn.

Lauren’s music is friendly, comfortable and well written. She plays piano well and has a good voice.

“It Sucks to Be You” is a great song for those who are disillusioned or unhappy and have no reason to be.
I really like the opening lyrics on “That’s All She Wrote”:

A quarter of my life I am cranky
And a quarter I’m just feeling fine
A quarter I’m wondering just how I am
And a quarter’s saying pour me some wine.

Her lyrics throughout are clever and appealing. If you’re looking for a good jazzy treat you’ll like this one.
