Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
Some of you know I am not a fan of country music…and some of you agree with me, but hear me out on this one. Even if you don’t like country, this might strike a chord (pun intended) with you.
The music is probably labeled Americana (even though she’s Canadian) as opposed to country because most people think of Shania Twain when they think country. But this is like old-style country… the Patsy Cline kind…the good stuff. But it has a rock feel too, especially on “Right by Your Side” which is more rootsy.
Oh Susanna’s voice really reminds me of Dolly Parton’s at times. I know I said I don’t care for country, but Dolly can do no wrong in my book. I just love her. So this is a good thing.
If you are at least open to country, Americana and roots rock, check out Oh Susanna!
