Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Lily Cushman Culhane’s music is instantly familiar but also surprising. Her use of samples and her smooth singing gives her a special style.

“Besame” is an intriguing trip into an odd world. The unsettling noises mixes with a sweet melody. Culhane’s singing is at odds with the backing, creating a nice effect.

“Something About you” is dreamy and sweet. Culhane sings of a yearning so strong that it can barely be expressed.

“Morning Light” sees her singing in a husky voice to a minimalistic backing.

“Simple Way of Life” is rougher than other songs here and it works well too.

Culhane seems an exceptional talent and this debut is great.
