Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Gina Villalobos’ second album sees her making potent Americana. Her feisty voice and talent shine through here. Like Lucinda Williams she has a rock attitude that makes her all the more compelling.

“Not Enough” is a tough, rootsy song with a catchy chorus. It’s a perfect song to play before going out for a night on the town.

“What I’d give” is a perfect sad song that still refuses to be depressing. The cover of World Party’s “Put the message in the box” is appealingly countryfied. “I’m alright” is a strong-voiced track. Villalobos gift for writing songs is apparent here.

Throughout the music is catchy but never simple and the lyrics sharp and insightful.

Gina Villalobos is clearly going places.
