Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
“Somewhere In Between” is Leandra Hill’s debut CD. It’s filled with interesting songs made up of intelligent, heartfelt lyrics and nice melodies. I like the packaging of the CD. Nice photography that goes with the music (if that makes sense) and of course I love the puppies on the back cover…nice touch.
“Perhaps” is a nice song about a blossoming healthy relationship, which is refreshing in these days of angry, bitter women complaining about relationships. Not that there’s not a place for that, I love it just as much as the next girl. But this is a nice change.
“Bitterwind” is a great track with a nice guitar solo. “Fear” is probably my favorite song on the CD. It’s beautiful with pretty guitar line, and it shows off Leandra’s voice well.
She paints nice pictures with her words like these: “Cascading water falls down/over sunlit marble rocks/with patterns of the rainbow prisms falling on my/eyelashes as I watch the mist ever so/gently touch the edge of the willow tree” (Home)
Not sure what it all means but I don’t care. I’m transported.
This is a nice CD and well worth a listen.
