Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Doe Deere aka Xenia used to be the lead singer of a band called Sky Salt which I reviewed here back in 2004. I really like it. It was sort of electro-haunty dissonant and dark.

This project is much more 80s dancy. I’ll admit my taste tends to turn more toward what she was doing with Sky Salt than this release, but maybe it’s because I don’t go to clubs anymore (in fact the last time I did was in the 80s!)

I recall liking Xenia’s voice and it’s good here too, albeit masked slightly by all the electronics. I don’t think you need to be a great singer to do this type of music, so it seems a bit of a waste when you are.

It’s fun music, not for every day, for me personally. But she’s good!
