Album Name: Tangent’s Trail
Artist: Majella O’Shea
Year/Label: 2005 / Independent
Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
The debut from Majella O’Shea is a trip hop record that sounds just right. Vocally she sounds more innocent than other divas of the genre and that purity sets her apart.
“Beautiful” lives up to its title with lightly skipping beats and a sweet vocal.
“Where Do I go?” is a melancholy song that resembles Lamb.
The cover of Kate Bush’s “The Man with the Child in His Eyes” gives the song a chilled composure. It’s not as good as the original but at least she tries to do something different to it.
“Permanent Trip” is a jazzy song with some delightful strings.
This is a fine debut.
