Album Review: Uru by Uru

Album Name: Uru
Artist: Uru
Year/Label: 2005 / Independent

Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Not sure what I was expecting here, maybe R & B with a sixties feel what with the tambourine and the leather coat pictured on the cover. But I was pleasantly surprised by what I heard. This is a very unique recording. There is a bit of a groove sound but there’s also some African rhythm sounds as well as rock and pop.

Uru’s voice is strong and sultry. A nice match for the style.

This is the third review I’ve done in a row where I was unable to compare the artist to someone. Just when you think every style has been done and every song has already been written you hear someone like Uru.
