Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Monique Berry’s second album is a strong continuation of her debut.

She sings sweetly but strongly of love and life. The first song “I Don’t Owe you Anything” is a proud declaration of independence set to a mellow tune. “Angel” may be a common title but there’s nothing common about this sad tale of a broken soul. Berry barely raises the tempo, but her control of the material ensures it doesn’t get dull. “Elephants and Tangerines” is a cute little song with nicely psychedelic lyrics.

Berry reminds me of Sarah McLachlan and Heather Nova, like them she should find a big audience for her wonderful music.
