Today’s podcast recommendation is a two-for-one: Lore and Cabinet of Curiosities
Since we’re heading into the Best Time of the Year…Halloween, I am going to start sharing my favorite spooky ones and I’m starting with giving you two classics.
These are storytelling podcasts. The stories are all true. They are dark and historic, though often little known tales that are presented in a lovely yet spooky way.
The “Cabinet of Curiosities” episodes are short (under 15 minutes, usually) and contain two stories each, that are related in some way. They’re not scary, just interesting and often they have a little twist at the end. I love to listen to these as I drift off to sleep but just need something to fill my brain so it will stop talking to me.
I’ve been listening to “Lore” for so long I don’t even remember how I heard about it. I’m guessing that it was recommended to me on Podbean (they have a great recommendation system). Lore is made up of episodes that tackle more in-depth folklore (still these remain under 30 minutes usually, but it’s one story per episode) and is a little more dark and spooky. This one gives a little more explanation of the stories and how they came to be legends.
They’re both produced, written, and read by Aaron Mahnke.
One BONUS for Lore…the music is absolutely beautiful. It’s all written and performed by Chad Lawson. I sometimes just listen to Chad’s music to sleep. It’s so lovely.
So there you have it, actually a THREE-for-one!
