Sometimes people submit stuff to me not knowing anything about this website or my tastes.
A few months ago, I received a submission from a Tea Party supporting musician singing (terrible) country music. It included just the CD with no case, no liner notes, just a one sheet and in a small cardboard envelope. He provided no contact info so even if I had reviewed it I couldn’t let him know.
Now that’s someone who knows nothing about me and Collected Sounds, unless he was trying to tick me off. If that’s the case, Bravo sir. Well done!
He included a URL on his one sheet, but it goes to a ‘buy this domain’ website. It says on the one sheet www.[redacted].net, but he’s actually www.[redacted].com.
Once I found his website I saw this on it: “While [redacted] does not claim to be very musically talented…”
All I can say is “seriously?”
And no I’m not printing his name because I don’t want the backlash.* But his first name is a mythical beast and his last name is a flower type (really, I’m not kidding).
*However, this is perhaps a good time to remind artists that if you don’t want my opinion, don’t send me your music. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
