Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Elena Powell’s latest record is full of sophisticated pop with plenty of hooks and smart lyrics.

“My Vertigo” is a stunning song with a rich instrumentation that supports Powell’s agile voice.

“First Girl on the Moon” is an up tempo song with lyrics about a space age future that fails to come true. The songs bouncy feel is irresistible.

The title track is gorgeous and has a suitably dreamy lyric.

“Sensitive Guy” has a sharp lyric and a folk-influenced melody.

The closing “Nine Million Miles” is a groove-oriented number that puts Powell’s violin to good use.

“Alta Nova” is a very appealing record that deserves to be investigated.
