Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

I reviewed Alwa Glebs’s “Irrlichter” here a while back and am pleased that she’s has had Debut reissued. She sings in German here too, but there English translations in the booklet.

As ever her lovely voice sounds good with the moody music.

“Sinn” is darkly melodic and sees her resemble long-lost chanteuse Nico.

“Anfang” is electronic cabaret for modern souls, her deep voice is at its finest.

“Liebe” is chilled calm, a barely existing backing supporting a brief lyric.

“Melancholie” lives up to is title, all minimal beats and morose mood. Despite this it’s hard not too love it because of its unearthly beauty. This is where Alwa Glebe started and it’s well worth a look.
