Album Name: Destiny
Artist: Sally French
Year/Label: 2003 / Dragonfly Lake
Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
Sally French will take you to another world with her magical sounds. Her songs are based on myth and legend.
“Alone” is a lovely song. French’s sweet voice and the fluid melody work well together.
“Lillie May” tells a sad tale of innocence lost. The beauty of Sally French’s voice and the rich sound makes it marvelous.
“Golden Leaves” is done in a Renaissance (the band not the era) style. Sally’s voice soars like Annie Haslam’s and the mood is uplifting.
“Call Another Doctor” is catchy and poppy. It sounds different from the other songs but is just as good.
The Mist of Avalon” brings us back to the progressive rock sound of the other songs. It’s based on Marion Zimmer Bradley’s classic novel of king Arthur and his sister Morgan. French makes it a lyrical, suggestive song.
“Destiny” is magical and gorgeous.
