Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Kate Mann’s record has a nice if desolate Americana flavor to it. She has a nice voice and writes very impressive songs.

The title song is replete with wailing harmonicas and Mann’s vocals are raw with emotion.

“Fall or Fly” seems to be a modern answer to honky tonk, Mann’s tough lead echoing the guitars.

“Polly’s song” is one of the strongest songs, a tribute to Polly Jean Harvey of sorts. Mann asks what her songs mystery might really hide.

“Old Soul” is softer and sees Mann singing beautifully.

“Devil’s Rope” is an assured and lovely album.
