Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I was going to try and bang out this review on the date of the release party, but it crept up on me. I saw an article in the [local paper] about the show tonight and did a silent “gah!” So here I go!

This was my first reaction to this record a few weeks ago: “A bit hard for me. I don’t like the nasally vocals either. And there’s rap.”

Good thing I gave it more ear time. Now I like it. The vocals don’t sound nasally to me anymore. Now I can hear some more almost cabaret-ish nuances. It also sounds really cool when all the ladies sing together, as on For the Taste.

World Won’t Rest has a really cool melody, kinda wanders around and ends up sounding really cool.

Dressed to Kill a Mockingbird is also good. And I’m not just talking about the name. I like the rat-a-tat percussion, but it’s actually kind of bluesy (yes, and I still like it, will wonders never cease?)

I’m guessing these ladies kick ass live and I’m sorry I can’t be there. I hope they have a great show.
