Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Ella Edmondson is the daughter of actors Jennifer Saunders (of “Absolutely Fabulous” amongst many other things) and Adrian Edmondson (once of “The Young Ones”).

Her won music is credible and strong enough for her to stand on her own feet. She has a very pleasant voice and the folk sound she uses suits her songs.

The opening title song recalls Eliza Carthy in a good mood and has a fiery chorus.

Run and Hide is a becalmed tune with a great deal of charm, Edmondson singing with sensitivity and presence.

Hunger is an up tempo song about jealousy, the singer making it compelling.

The closing Hidden Scars is a poignant, very nice exit point.

Edmondson’s vocal is guarded but exquisite and her host of musicians play at top of their game. Ella Edmondson is here to stay.
