Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
I wasn’t sure what to expect upon seeing the CD cover for “Jewel of the Nile”. It looked a bit theatrical to me, what with the almost Queen Amidala costume and all. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, and so is Isis. I just was afraid maybe it would be all show.
It is not. This is one of those beautiful atmospheric CDs. I’d put it in the Sasha Lazard, Tina Malia group. If you don’t know those artists, then that means to me that this kind of music is not well known enough. It’s certainly not radio fodder. Though I have heard Malia’s CD on DirecTV’s Atmospheres station. So I’m not sure where one would hear it.
Isis is Sabrina Paoelle and Eliot Zeitoune. She has an incredibly beautiful voice. It soars and sweeps over, up and throughout the melodies and harmonies. Simply gorgeous. His melodies and instrumentation are equally stunning.
I f you like multi-layered, orchestrated, sweeping melodies with a lovely, skilled, almost operatic voice over the top this is one CD you must check out.
