Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
Rachel Gaudry starts off this CD with “Take me to Ride” which is an immediately likeable song. I found it running through my head one day after only hearing it once.
The rest of the CD follows up nicely. It’s filled with songs of love, both lost and found. Rachel has a lovely voice that blends perfectly with her piano playing and other instrumentation.
“Sunshine in My Pocket” is a stand out for me. It’s got a great catchy melody and great lyrics:
Got a little bit of sunshine in my pocket today Takes a little bit more than thunder to chase it away Looking at your sad clown frown face as you tell me your woes I will try not to laugh ’cause you said so.
On “When Fortune has Gone Dry” the piano is a gorgeous stand out. It makes me feel like I’m in a piano bar sipping a martini, it has a little bit of an old time feel to it.
She rocks out a little more on “Love is What I Need” and “Inside my Head” and it works….quite well.
This is a first class album, a collection of solid songs that are well written, well performed and easy on the ears.
