Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Midnight Movies’s new record is an entrancing listen. Their rock sound is sophisticated and dominated by Gena Olivier’s deep vocals. The comparisons to Nico are not without cause.

“Patient Eye”is mysterious and dark, Olivier’s unforgettable vocal rests on a wild backing.

“Hide Away” rocks out carefully and resembles Stereolab in a light mode.

“Lion Song” is beautiful, yet scary and reverb-laden as Olivier chants “lion the girl says no”.

Midnight Movies have a sound that’s their own and songs to spare. This album is great.
