Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I’ve reviewed Athena’s records before and I’ve always said there’s something theatrical about her. It’s no surprise she’s an actress, and probably a very good one.

That she starts out the record with a cute little “Hi!” is just so winsome. These songs are little slice of life episodes. Emotional, funny, often raw and sometimes scratch-your-head weird. She actually squawks in one song (I bet you can guess which one.) But I like it.

She’s a great piano player and her voice is fantastic. She’s able to go all over the map vocally and never miss a beat (or a note).

It’s fun to hear these songs in a live setting. I imagine she puts on a great show. I do hope I will get to see her live someday.

If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, but still want great songwriting and skilled instrumentation and vocals, this is one to check out.
