Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Transplanted to New York from Seattle Lyza Wilson has released her self-titled debut CD.

The style is melodic rock bordering on pop. Wilson’s voice is crystal clear and suits the music well. The songs are radio friendly and hooky. She has assembled a nice backing band as well.

The production is full and professional sounding, which is not always the case in independent releases, but is true here.

“Anonymous” has a bit of a Heart feel (as in the Wilson sister’s rock band, Heart. I wonder if there’s any relation?)

She doesn’t exactly qualify on this site since she only wrote four of the 14 songs here (which is no where near “most” and only co-wrote them at that) but I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that she writes more of her own in the future.

The overbearing redness of the packing and the website is a bit much, but looks aside, this is a nice debut that shows that Wilson knows her stuff.
