Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

I can’t escape the thought of Natalie Merchant when I hear Julie Othmer sing. The sound is not identical, but there are some inflections she does which are spot on. This is most apparent on her first track, “Hey Hey”.

“Help Me” is a nice AAA pop song. Probably my favorite. I can imagine it on the radio. It has some nice piano too.

“The First Day” is a bit bluesy, but remains accessible. It shows the smokier side to her voice. No Natalie Merchant here.

“Intention” has her really belting out the notes and it sounds great.

“Pull Me Back” shows the lovely soft side of Julie Othmer’s voice.

This is a nice contemporary pop record, with good melodies and fine instrumentation. Not to mention very good vocals. It’s very professionally done. A very nice debut.
