Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

The second album by Anna O continues where the last one left off. She’s still a strong singer and songwriter with a knack for writing powerful material. This record comes across as a little more rootsy than her debut.

Echoes of Sheryl Crow crop up on “Where is the Garden”. The shiny surface hides barbed hooks though.

“River of Tears” is a twangy delight. Anna O’s voice carries the song home.

The lovely ballad “No Logic” is like Patti Smith’s more serene moments.

The caustic “Maybe the Angels Fall” is wrapped in a deceptively sweet melody. I can’t help but wish that some of the poison would seep into the delivery.

The title track is mostly acoustic and offers some truly poetic words. “With just a kiss An ocean of bliss I’m nailed to you. Impaled to you” she sings.

This album is closer to the mainstream than Anna O’s previous work. Whether this will mean some kind of breakthrough remains to be seen. I miss some of the edge of her older material, but this is fine stuff too.
