Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Sylvia Pilar’s music is a seamless blend of jazz, lounge and dance. Her debut sees her mix her own songs with covers.
“Magic in The night” is a slow, sultry thing that Pilar purrs her way through nicely.
A cute “Besame Mucho” becomes her also.
The title song with its laid back guitar line and seductive lead vocal would soundtrack many a beach party nicely.
Maria Muldaur’s “Midnight at the Oasis” gets a quasi-exotic makeover that works well.
Pilar’s music is well suited to lounging and relaxing at home and she’s a strong singer. In all it’s accomplished debut.

Comment: i find Pilar’s music simultaneously provocative and comforting, whisking me off to places i never dreamed of but longed to visit. she has such range that i feel i’ve been travelling an entire parallel universe of sensations and emotions. she’s a star, no doubt about it.
