Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Germany’s Chandeen return after a lengthy absence and their latest dreampop offering is a joy to hear.

Welcome to the Still sees new singer Julia Beyer at her most beautiful and her band’s backing is eerie and precise.

From the Inside is a lovely, cinematic sweep of a song, Beyer singing to a spooky backdrop. As ever Chandeen’s grasp of songwriting is sharp.

Cleaning the Traces details a nightmarish relationship gone awry and Beyer sounds as bewildered as the music does.

The bonus track Tomorrow has vocals by Lovespirals’ Anji Bee and is quietly stunning.

Chandeen’s new album shows the masters of dreampop at their most wonderful.
