Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Viva K consists of Ween Callas, Ravi Dhar, Skoda and Evan Haros. They use a sitar, which makes for an odd effect.
“Dekoder” is an odd-sounding heavy rock song in the vein of Jane’s Addiction. Here Haros’ sitar clashes nicely with the more traditional use of guitar.
“No Better Time” is anthem to living for the now that uses Callas’s dynamic vocal range effectively.
“Who You Are” is an enegertic grind peppered with a wailed vocal lead.
“Porch Raga” meanders in an intriguing way. It may be Viva K’s best blend of West and East.
Their debut is an intoxicating listen.
