Album Name: A Very Good Night
Artist: Maci Miller
Year/Label: 2001 / Dreamcastle records
Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
You’ll feel transported to the 1940’s when you hear Maci Miller’s big band sound. She carries it off well with ten self penned songs. Raunchy stuff like “Red Hot Dirty Dame” rubs shoulders with love songs like “I’ve got You”.
Miller’s deft singing is constantly in focus. She may feel she was born in the wrong decade, but she wont let that get in her way and goes on making the music she loves.
The lovely “My sad Song” could easily have soundtracked Marilyn Monroe looking sad in one of her films.
“A Very Good Night” may be an anachronism, but it’s still a beautiful thing.
