Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
I was smitten with Duby’s previous album “Come Across the River”. This one takes more time to love, but is no less brilliant.
“Still Rough” is sad-eyed and pretty but the arrangement is more muscular than on the previous album.
“Over and under arrangements” has an alarmingly soft structure, and the vocals weave beautifully.
“Wrestle and Cuss” reaches my heart, its sophisticated gloom effortlessly charming.
“Dullard or are you a Breakfast Alcoholic” is not just a great title, Duby makes it her most acidic lyric to a catchy indie pop tune.
Duby’s new album is insidious and cool, and works we well as her previous one.
The hidden cover of “Love is a battlefield” is neat too.
