Album Name: Moonfall
Artist: Sasha Lazard
Year/Label: 2005 / The Myth of Red, Inc
Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds
Wow sometimes my mind and body just need a CD like this. I dug Sasha Lazard’s previous release, “The Myth of Red” and I really love this one as well. That was more of an electronic pop record where this is more classical.
There are some pop songs on here as well as a Broadway tune. But all have been given this classic treatment.
That voice, oh my. I have never before been a fan of opera sounding voices but I just can’t get enough of her voice. It’s just so soothing and beautiful. The music is also a huge part, she’s joined this time by two musicians: Emily Olin on piano (Emily is also Sasha’s vocal coach) and Noah Hoffeld on cello. Being a trio, it’s simple, yet so…*not*… simple.
The sound that these three make is incredible. I’m going to have fantasy daydreams about them playing in my living room for quite some time.
Even if you think you don’t like classical music please give this a chance. I find that as I age I like it more and more, and if all classical music sounded like this, you could call me a solid fan.

Leila Britto – 10/12/2006

Comment: Very “simple” compared to her debut c.d. I have been searching for everything Sasha Lazard since I first came across her Myth of Red c.d. I found her as a guest vocalist on another c.d. She is stunning and has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever come across. I am slightly disapointed in this cd’s simplicity, it is lacking the the excitement and energy of Myth, but it is still good, different from what I think of her as doing. This is great for those relaxing moments and deffinatley worth the money. Looking forward to her new cd!
