Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

K8 (that’s “Kate” not “Kay – Eight”) has released a nice (albeit short) recording. To me, the sound is rock with a bluesy feel, but she’s opened for several country acts so it makes me think that others see her as more country than rock. She reminds me of a much softer Melissa Etheridge.

“Pieces of You” is very catchy. By the second listen it feels like an old favorite.

The production is very professional and nicely done. From the vocals to the musicianship this is a class act.

“Without Me” is the best tune on here for my money. It has a haunting melody and is just, well, very nice. It almost sounds like it should be in a film…during the video montage portion…you know where they show the couple trying to go on day to day after a break up (before they get back together in the end).

I’ve been getting tons of EPs lately (as opposed to full length CDs). I guess people would rather just put something smaller together until they get financial backing to do a full CD. Makes sense, I guess. I hope she gets enough interest and support to release a full length CD soon.
