Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Larissa Dalle’s mini album starts with the ironic “Theme Song”, a cheerful sing-along with the chorus “Let us depress you that’s what we’re here for”.

The album continues with mournful and beautiful songs that sound familiar but fresh.

Dalle is in fine voice throughout. Her music is reminiscent of Mazzy Star, but more animated.

A lovely album that deals with matters of the heart in interesting ways.

Comments: Rating: 5 Stars Comment: after listening to larissa’s voice and songs for almost 15 years now, i still never lose that little chill up my neck. her voice is at once fragile and strong, ever on the edge of break up and yet breaking thru. ‘life is good’ gets me every time. what a gorgeous chorus that years later, i still love to sing along with in the car (a true test of any great song). ‘far from lonely’, originally recorded for a local fundraiser holiday cd, strikes me as a chrismas song that has always been. it’s timeless theme and tune are instantly memorable. longing and lovely. the hostile, mob chorus of ‘geronimo’, the insightful ‘glitter girls’ and the arch humor of the bookends ‘theme song’ make this one amazing collection of songs from a solo artist. i read about a new cd, ‘get on the boat’ but havent seen release dates. sure it will be worth the wait. i for one am sure glad she’s out there making music like this.

Now that its about 2,3 years later, and I’ll soon be Larissa’s stepdaughter, I look back on the first time I heard her sing, and it was on this cd. I remember thinking wow she’s really cool, and she’s got a great voice! i never imagined we would become this close! i’ve seen her battle cancer, cry over dogs dying, and become a surrogate mom to Porkchop, her beagle! I’m really excited becuase he’ll be my “brother” next april! also, she is really cool to hang out with, listens to great music, and makes my dad (jason, he’s in wormwood scrubs) happier than I’ve seen him since………… NEVER! so I thought i would just share this little congrats to her, and let people know how great she really is! ~Amber
