Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Turnerville (according to Holt’s website and liner notes) is an actually place where she lived as a child. Her family owned this very cool sounding business that included a diner and a ballroom (which was torn down many years ago). I want to go back in time and visit there. But in the meantime I’ll be happy listening to track three, Prairie Moon Ballroom as well as the rest of the recording.

There is a little of an alt.country feel to a few of the songs, but I’d say that for the most part it’s pretty folky. Jennifer’s voice is crystal clear and strong.

The songs are well written and comfy, she and the other players on the CD are very skilled and it really shows. There’s not a bad note on here.

Stand out songs: “Fireside” (gorgeous intro), “That’s How the Story Goes”
